Due to changes on snipr.com, FileChute’s Short URL feature is broken (when the recipient clicks on the link, they’ll be prompted for a password on snipr.com instead). I will address this as soon as I can. As I am on vacation and traveling with my two young kids, finding time to fix this will be a challenge!
In the meantime, you’ll have to disable the Short URL feature and send the un-shortened links.
Thank you for your patience and happy Chinese New Year.

The Unofficial Apple Weblog posted a nice review of FileChute today.
“Sure, there are lots of ways to transfer files, but this application makes it drop dead easy.”

The iPhone 2.2 firmware is out. The coolest addition has to be Google Maps Street View. How to open Street View isn’t immediately obvious, so here’s a quick tip. You need to first put the Drop Pin on the map. Tap the “peel back” button at the bottom-right of the Maps application, then tap “Drop Pin”. Tap the Drop Pin to bring up the bubble and tap the icon on the left side of the bubble. If the icon is disabled, it means Street View isn’t available at that location — move the pin and try again.
Another awesome addition is over-the-air podcast. You no longer need to sync your iPhone in order to get the latest podcast. That means you can get your NPR fix anytime, anywhere. Woohoo!

I posted this tip on our Forum a while back. Since I still get emails regarding this, it is probably worth reposting it here.
When setting up FileChute for iPhone, you need to enter the Download URL from FileChute. Some users have URLs containing the ~ character. To type “~”, first tap the “123″ button at the lower-left of the keyboard, then tap the shift key key. Tilde is now the key to the immediate right of the shift key.

We released an update of EasyBatchPhoto this morning. It adds one frequently requested feature - options for different date and time formats in the EXIF-based overlay.
As always, updates are free for existing licensed users.

Dan Frakes of Macworld posted a review of TapDex in the online version of Mac Gems back in May. The review has finally made it to print.
If you have the November issue of Macworld, turn to page 53 and you will find a nice review of TapDex in the Mac Gems column.

I came across this article on the New York Times and found it incredibly amusing.
Ever since switching to OS X some years back, boot up time has become mostly irrelevant since I hardly ever reboot. I remember back in the days , waking my Windows laptop from sleep was always accompanied by anxiety. The chances it would actually wake up was maybe 50-50. It’s funny that 6 years later, things apparently haven’t changed much for PC users.
“Of course, some computer users try to avoid slow boot times by never turning off their machines; they simply leave them in standby mode. But PCs sometimes have a hard time waking up from standby and tend to crash the longer they run without rebooting.”
The article quoted a NASA computer engineer saying,
“If you could just open it up immediately, just like you do with your cellphone, and text somebody or whatever and close it back up, that would be ideal,”
Uh … that describes my 6 year-old PowerBook.

We have finally submitted our first iPhone app to the App Store! There isn’t much we can do now but wait.
FileChute for iPhone requires FileChute 4.0 on the Mac side. We haven’t officially released FileChute 4.0 yet, but here’s a sneak peek: download now.
